Like many professionals, lawyers are experiencing challenges with well-being in the workplace. They are seeing high rates of depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders throughout their careers due to systemic pressures that cause high stress and deplete the internal resources they need to manage it. While many law firms have some sort of wellness initiatives in place, most do not fully address lawyers’ needs around health and well-being. We suggest an evidence-informed approach that includes a combination of educating lawyers about well-being and coaching them to implement practices that support their overall well-being in order to improve mental health outcomes.
